Phoenix is a neutered, orange
mackerel tabby. Found on the side of
the road this poor little kitty had a
broken pelvis, broken femur and a
punctured cornea. He was in terrible
shape. Someone had taken him in and
was feeding him tuna and milk when
one of my girls found out and asked if
we could take him home. Realizing he
needed immediate medical attention,
we took him.
This lucky tabby underwent a number
of x-rays, and with the help of anti-
biotics , lots of pain medication, the
guidance of my favorite vet ( Dr. Sue
Losito at Fairmount Animal Hospital),
and his young age working to his
advantage, he managed to pull through his ordeal without the need for surgery. Today
he is a healthy happy cat with no outward signs of injury.
This time it was my eldest daughter Marie who begged me to take this rescue in. Marie
had been going through her own illness at the time and thought the kitty would help her
deal with her own pain. So together, Phoenix and Marie pulled through. Marie will be
graduating from college this year with her degree in Marine Biology and she will be
taking Phoenix with her…. oh, and Phoenix’ buddy Mooby too.
